Kids Who Stole Thousands of Dollars For Gaming

Kids Who Stole Thousands of Dollars For Gaming

Hey guys what’s up it’s Charlie here and
today we’re going to be looking at kids
who stole thousands of dollars for
gaming we all know that with gamers
today it’s pay to play you either need
to buy the game at which costs a lot of
money but the real expenses come with
free games they often have
microtransactions and in game things you
can buy sometimes kids take their
parents money and spend thousands of
dollars on these things and today we’re
going to be looking at some hilarious
and crazy cases of this happening but
one thing that is totally free to do is
subscribe and press the notification
bell coming up first we have fee bucks
bandit unless you’re living under a rock
I’m sure you know the number-one game
right now is fortnight fortnight is a
free-to-play game that anyone can
download you can get it on Nintendo
switch PC Mac iPhone Android Playstation
or Xbox and it’s said that around 100
million people play this game every day
but if fortnight’s free-to-play then how
did they make three billion dollars in
2018
one word V box V box is the currency
Houston fortnight to buy upgrades and
skins to buy v bucks all you need is a
bank card and they’re pretty expensive
ten thousand v bucks can set you back a
hundred dollars v bucks really can set
you back a lot as one mother named Cleo
found in 2018
Cleo Duquette from the UK was a disabled
mother of two she survives off
disability benefits meeting she does not
have a lot of money that’s why she was
stunned to find out her ten-year-old son
Jaden had spent over a thousand pounds
on fortnight’s her son spent 1183 pounds
and 25 pence
Cleo had no idea and only found out when
she went to check her bank balance and
saw there was only 8 pounds in her
account she now says that thanks to her
son spending spree she won’t be able to
pay for food or electricity
Cleo says her son did not realize what
he’d done and began crying when he found
out what had happened
Cleo reached out to her bank but sadly
was told that it was her responsibility
Felicio can get this sorted out as she
has contacted fortnight but is still
waiting for them to respond the moral of
the story is make sure you know where
your bank cards are and make sure your
children aren’t spending all your money
on fortnight’s next up is the csgo
gambler one of the world’s most popular
games is csgo short for counter-strike
go in the game you can get things called
skins skins are different designs that
you can place on your weapons to make
them look really cool and these skins
can be traded between players on the
Steam Community some of these skins are
actually worth a lot of money and I
don’t just mean in-game money I mean
cold hard cash the most expensive csgo
skin can set you back $1,500 and I mean
that in real money think of it kind of
like the stock market guard for weapon
skins there’s also something called
Counter Strike skin gambling this is
basically where you gamble on what skins
are going to go up in value and down in
value well at one Australian teen named
Jordan Bruce spent thousands doing this
the eighteen-year-old stole his dad’s
credit card to do this and racked up a
1800 dollar bill when Jordan realized
what he’d done he said he hated himself
he said he got an urge and pretty much
got addicted to it kind of like you get
addicted to gambling next up is dragon
city dragon city is one of the most
popular mobile games in the world you
may not have heard of it but if you have
a young kid in the house they definitely
have this has caused some parents to
give their children their phones to play
dragon city on they do this as a way to
keep their kids occupied when they’re
doing something around the house but if
you ever do this with your kids make
sure you don’t have your credit card
hooked up to your phone one
nine-year-old boy spent twelve thousand
dollars playing dragon city on his mom’s
iPad the kid was trying to take out a
track and in Dragon City I’m ended up
draining the family’s life savings it
turned out the mother had to borrow
money simply to eat because all of her
cash had been drained into this game
luckily a few weeks later the $12,000 it
was refunded but it easily could have
gone the other way the mom this happened
to was named
4.in and she’s from Australia of course
her nine year old kid did not know what
he was doing but Katherine says her son
is now not allowed to play video games
until he’s an adult and she also
criticized these fun kids apps having
in-game purchases children don’t
understand next up is clash of clans kid
clash of clans is yet another
free-to-play mobile game
I’m sure you’ve played it before seeing
so for a hundred million players play it
every single day but if the game is
free-to-play then how do they make
twenty million dollars every month
well clash of clans is famous for their
micro transactions these are small
purchases you can make in the game to
upgrade your clan well in 2013 one mom
was stunned when her seven-year-old
twins racked up a three thousand dollar
iTunes bill the Canadian mother did not
realize that transactions could be made
in the game and thought it was free to
play the mom named Paula mana said our
house rule is to never download an app
without permission and her kids didn’t
download an app but instead it was tons
and tons of coins for their clan the
twins purchases ranged from $1.00 to
$100 and because these ads to buy more
kept popping up they would just tap the
screen and purchase it card comment
below whether you think it’s the parents
fault or the apps fault next up is FIFA
I’m sure that you or someone you know
has played FIFA before it’s a football
game that you do have to pay for but
once you’ve paid for the game don’t
think the payments end there many
players spend a ton of money on FIFA
packs
these are packs where you can unlock
different players these packs are random
so it can be very addictive buying lots
of packs to try and get the best players
well one day a dad named Lance Perkins
gave his son a credit card he gave this
credit car to his 17 year-old son for
emergencies and also to do things like
watch the family car or buy the
groceries well that’s why he was stunned
when he realized his son had gone on an
$8,000 spending spree he had done this
on the Xbox version of FIFA his son said
he simply thought it was a one-time fee
for the game but I don’t buy that the
highest purchase in the game at which
his 12,000 feet
points only costs around $90 this means
he must have bought this nearly a
hundred times his Bank nor FIFA paid
back any of the money and he lost $8,000
so it just goes to show if you can’t
trust your kids do not give them a
credit card next up is xbox live in the
UK in 2011 a mother named Dawn Jordan
was working two jobs she did this to
support her 11 year old son Brendon
but sadly all of her time spent working
it was pointless as Brendon spent all of
the money she earned he accidentally
spent over a thousand pounds on Xbox
Points
the mother Dawn complained to Microsoft
but she said they ignored her she says
it’s not like Bill Gates needs the
thousand dollars but she said she really
needs it and already works two jobs to
support her family
sadly Brendon had no idea what he was
doing it didn’t realize he spent over a
thousand pounds so if you’re a parent
with young kids make sure you put
parental locks on the purchasing tools
in Xbox otherwise you never know you
could be in dorm situation and lose a
thousand pounds coming up next is
Jurassic costs we all know the famous
Jurassic Park game well one father of a
seven-year-old boy knows the game all
too well
that’s because his seven-year-old son
racked up a four thousand dollar bill
playing the jurassic world game the
father named mohammad sugar only
realised when his bank card was declined
in total his son had spent over four
thousand dollars and 1500 of those
dollars was spent in just one hour his
son had been purchasing Dino bucks which
is the in-game currency his son Faisal
had no idea what he was doing and he
said Apple should have really checked
with him before taking out the money
from his account
next up is appszoom be if you play
mobile games he may know the game
zombies versus ninjas
well in 2013 a five-year-old boy spent
$2,500 in ten minutes
he bought various in-game purchases on
this app this included 9,000 ninja darts
the child was named Danny and luckily
his parent Shannan was able to get the
money back but at first Sharon was very
upset that Danny had spent thousands of
dollars in a mobile game check out the
poll on the top right corner and vote if
you’ve ever spent money on a mobile game
personally I haven’t and comment below
telling me if you think we need to
change things in apps many are now
saying that things should take away
micro transactions within apps like
iPhone games they say that children may
accidentally buy this and then cause
terrible things like we saw in this
video
and some say kids get addicted to things
like csgo gambling as well so comment
telling me if we should remove these
things or keep them as they are
personally I’m not sure but I’d love to
see what you guys think down below if
you guys want to see some more amazing
videos check out my second channel
they’ll be linked to that on screen in a
moment but as always thanks for watching
check out some more videos on screen

There are protections in place to prevent this parents need to get in their settings and make it so you need a password to make purchases or turn them off all together can’t blame the gaming companies

My thought on the matter is that if the kid hasn't had to work for money, they sincerely don't understand how much things cost and will overspend without a second thought. My niece really only started to understand it when she insisted that all four dogs go to the vet, twice, for a total in the $2200 range. As my brother paid me back, all he could say was "There goes the car I was going to buy you."

I don’t understand why a parent or anyone would let a kid play on something with access to your bank account on it, especially with thousands of dollars in it, and not have a way where the kid can’t spend it. My iPad is set up to ask for a password for things that you have to pay for, and I don’t even have my bank card information on it, it’s a prepaid card I hardly ever put money on. Btw I think it’s both the kids and parents fault, kids for doing it and parents for being stupid enough to their kids play on something and not have it set up some way their kids can’t access their money . I can’t even imagine having my bank account information on something that can be hacked, lost or stolen, and my account sets empty most the time.

Technically, it wasn't a mobile game for me, it was a coloring app named Sandbox. I, like a responsible teen, asked my mother if I could get Sandbox Unlimited (you get premium pictures to color). It was only $50 for a year, so she agreed. Originally, it was $100 for a year but I guess Sandbox decided to drop the price because of how popular it was
