15 Upcoming Games of December 2019 (PC, PS4, Switch, XB1) | whatoplay

1. Skellboy
An unlikely indie-adventure game by Umaiki, Skellboy is about a flexible skeleton with
customizable body parts. As the legendary hero Skippy, it’s your duty
to save this fallen Cubold Kingdom from falling into the hands of the evil Squaruman. Defeat your enemies and use their guts as
an advantage. It may sound morbid, but it’s cartoony 2D pixel-art style with 3D elements
adds a refreshing atmosphere, providing a fun and kid-friendly journey into an expansive
Cube world. It’s set to release this 3rd of December on the Nintendo Switch. 2. EarthNight on PC, PlayStation 4, PS Vita,
and Switch A love-letter to classic arcade games, EarthNight
is dubbed as a ‘painting brought to life’. From start to finish, Sydney and Stanley’s
journey oozes with a charming vibrant flair akin to Ubisoft’s Rayman titles. As a side-scrolling 2D adventure, weave through
its randomly-generated dreamlike levels populated with anthropomorphic characters and epic dragons.
Each unique run offers multiple surprises as you slowly descend from the Heavens to
the Earth. It’s coming this 3rd of December on the PC, PS4, PS Vita, and Switch. 3. Life Is Strange 2 – Episode 5 on PC, PS4,
and Xbox One The final episode of DONTNOD’s sequel to
the award-winning Life is Strange. Without giving too much of the story away, follow
two brothers in an effort to escape from civilization after a life-changing incident. In this final chapter, Sean and Daniel make
the biggest decisions of their lives, and it all depends on the choices you made for
the past few episodes. It’s a culmination of its episodic format and like every other
Life Is Strange finale, it’s gonna break your heart. It comes out this 3rd of December
for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. 4. Farming Simulator 20
The Switch can finally get some Farming Simulator love for the first time ever. Like usual,
Giants Software’s agricultural simulator takes you to a rural paradise full of healthy
livestock and crops. Set in the great North American environment,
work from sunrise to sunset with the aid of over 100 faithfully recreated farming vehicles.
Apart from that, there’s a multitude of farming activities you’re bound to sink
some of your time with. With Switch’s hybrid capabilities, live the farmer life on-the-go,
or in the big screen. Coming this 3rd of December. 5. Arise: A Simple Story on PC, PS4, and Xbox
One Don’t be fooled by its title. This game
is an intricate tale about an old man in a time-bending journey about love and loss.
Arise is tagged as an emotional rollercoaster aimed to make you smile then reduce you to
tears. Although the trailer gave nothing about its
gameplay, its synopsis involves manipulating time to solve puzzles in its dreamlike world.
There aren’t any more details available as of the moment, but the game is slated to release
to the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this 3rd of December. 6. Star Ocean: First Departure R on Switch
and PS4 Speaking of Time Manipulation, this enhanced
version of the SNES gem and eventually the 2008 PlayStation Portable classic retells
the story of three friends travelling back through time to recover a cure for a deadly
disease that struck their land. Lauded for its impressive storytelling with
memorable characters and an engaging real-time combat, First Departure is one of Japan’s
best-selling PSP JRPG’s. This improvement introduces new features such as a more refined
combat system, HD graphics, some quality of life changes, and other surprises for longtime
fans. It’s heading to the Switch and PlayStation
4 this 5th of December. 7. Darksiders Genesis
THQ Nordic’s unexpected spin-off to their critically acclaimed Darksiders series is
in the form of a top-down hack and slash title by Airship Syndicate. Set years before the
original game, witness the bloodbath between the Nephilim and the Horsemen. Control two characters, War and Strife as
they fulfill Lucifer’s orders to disrupt the balance of Hell. Seamlessly switch between
these powerful beings with their own set of abilities and embark on a perilous quest all
set in the Darksiders universe. Coming this 5th of December for the PC. 8. Assassin’s Creed: The Rebel Collection
Ships, ahoy! This upcoming package features two Assassin’s Creed’s titles: Assassin’s
Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed: Rogue. Considered as one of the best Assassin’s
Creed titles, embark on an unforgettable story with epic naval battles and the classic AC
parkour. Follow the adventures of the brash Edward Kenway in his voyage through the Golden
Age of Piracy; Take control of the morally gray Templar Shay Cormack in his journey throughout
America during the Seven Years War. This collection also includes the standalone
single-player adventure of Aveline de Grandpre and Adewale’s solo journey in Assassin’s
Creed: Freedom Cry. Basically, it’s four games into one collection. Coming this 6th
of December for the Nintendo Switch. 9. Ashen on PS4 and Switch
Free from Microsoft’s exclusive shackles, this 2018 action role-playing game from A44
is headed to the PlayStation 4 and the Switch. Set in a sunless world, explore a desolate
open-world where co-operation or competition via online multiplayer awaits you. Expect
a punishing yet rewarding experience faithful to the “souls” genre of stamina-based combat. Customize your own character and improve them
with the game’s crafting mechanic. Gain new weapons and abilities and challenge yourself
with its wide variety of dangerous creatures. It comes out this 9th of December. 10. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries
It’s 2019 and there’s still no shortage of the Mecha genre. Set in a distant future,
humanity is no longer attached to one planet. Travel light years across the galaxy and become
a legendary MechWarrior ready for War. Throughout the game, manage your own empire
of grease monkeys and talented pilots as you increase your reputation. Customize your hulking
metallic monster and let the galaxy revel in its glory. Like a weapon surpassing Metal
Gear, these BattleMechs determine your success in the game’s living and breathing star
systems. Coming to the PC this 10th of December. 11. The Blind Prophet
Inspired by well-known Point and Click titles, this adventure puts you into the life of the
apostle Bartholomeus in his divine mission: liberate the corrupted city of Rotbork, and
brave the Great Evil that lurks within. It’s a great narrative experience dealing
with relevant social issues in this day and age. A hybrid of neo-noir and cyberpunk elements,
explore its atmospheric city with its highly detailed hand-drawn panels. Every part of
the city feels like it comes from an Alan Moore comic book. It’s set to release this
11th of December for the PC. 12. Straimium Immortaly on Xbox One and Nintendo
Switch This hodgepodge of gibberish neon-soaked aesthetic
by Anthony Case is gearing up for a console release. Straimium Immortaly, just to put
it simply, is a roguelike dungeon crawler where you go on an endless trip battling beasties
and gathering loot. It’s weird, bold but visually captivating.
There’s enough replay value in its random universe with more surprises in each of its
unpredictable madness. If you’re a huge fan of titles like Dead Cells, Binding of
Isaac and other punishing games, this is something for you. Coming this 25th of December for
the Xbox One and the Switch. 13. Oniken: Unstoppable Edition & Odallus:
The Dark Call Bundle Old-school meets the future in this bundle
of two ‘modern’ retro games from JoyMasher: Odallus: The Dark Call and Oniken: Unstoppable
Edition. Enjoy hours and hours of pure arcade goodness
with these two titles. Odallus is an exploration/action game where you play as a battle-weary warrior
who must wield his sword to rescue his son from Darkness. In contrast to the medieval style of Odallus,
Oniken is a game about a post-apocalyptic future controlled by a sinister corporation.
Both are action-platformers that tests your agility and swordplay against a gauntlet of
enemies, traps, and challenging bosses. Coming this Christmas for the Nintendo Switch. 14. Tamashii
The Switch has slowly become a platform for obscure, yet interesting titles. Tamashii
is a straightforward puzzle platform game inspired by bizarre Japanese games from the
90s and late 80s. Warning: This game is not for kids. As an unnamed soul working for a mysterious
entity, you are tasked to discover the evil source that hides inside his twisted temple.
As a dark tale set in a ‘perverted’ world, expect a variety of horrifying imagery and
sexual nudity. Ironically, this game comes out on Christmas. 15. Tales Of The Aswang: VR
This Filipino-made VR game explores the rich mythologies and other various epics from Philippine
history. It’s a compilation of stories from books written by Maximo Ramos after being
passed on through generations of storytelling and remembrance. As a VR entry, explore this mysterious world
full of atmosphere and rich lore. Encounter Duendes, Manananggals, Kapres, and other notable
Filipino cryptids. Use your VR gear to solve numerous puzzles, finding artifacts, notes,
and letters to unravel the magic and secrets in the world of the Aswang. Coming this 26th
of December for the PC.

the devs should have focused on aswang creatures to tell a rich story, its very interesting to play a game that features characters from the city and visit a province just to be eaten by a community of aswang
